Ingrid Stitt: alto saxophone

Ingrid Stitt grew up in a musical family and developed her passion for playing the saxophone at an early age. After completing her Bachelor of Music degree at McGill University, Ingrid pursued a freelance career that included working with such artists as Corey Hart, Rita McNeil, Tommy Banks, Bo Diddley, Slim Williams, Charlie Biddle, Jim Galloway's Wee Big Band as well as performances with her own jazz quintet. Since moving to Vancouver in 1996, Ingrid earned her Bachelor and Master of Education degrees at UBC and the University of Victoria and has been teaching secondary music in the Burnaby School District. She has been active as an adjudicator for the Vancouver and Surrey school jazz festivals as well as a clinician for various summer music schools in B.C. and the Yukon. As well as performing with Mother of Pearl, Ingrid is a featured soloist with the Good Noise Vancouver Gospel choir and the Douglas College Night Band.
